Welcome to Tim's Page for the 2018 Swedish SummeRun
Welcome Everyone,
Once again I am walking with Sachia and Corin and the MidCentury Modern team, participating in the Swedish SummeRun & Walk. Proceeds from the run and walk will support the life-saving work of the Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer, a Seattle-based non-profit that has become a principle catalyst for national and international research efforts aimed at finding solutions to ovarian cancer. After many years of organizing this event and with no known cancer risk in her family, Sachia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015 and underwent surgery and chemo and is in remission. She now participates in the 'Can-can' parties which reach out to groups to explain the risks of breast and ovarian cancer and tells her unique story as a survivor.
I heard Sachia's story this year for the very first time and it was awe-inspiring. I am that much prouder to have her as our team captain again for 2018.
Since its establishment in 1996, the Rivkin Center has awarded over $10 million in research grants to scientific investigators around the world, and also supports ovarian and breast cancer education and high-risk early detection screening.
Can you make a donation to help Team Mid-Century Modern? How about:
- The cost of a cup of coffee or latte and go without for one day?
- The cost of two gallons of gas and walk or run the extra mile?
- The cost of a dinner at a reasonably priced restaurant and cook at home for the night?
- The cost of lunch at work and pack your own that day?
