Walking for Chris! Somewhere over the rainbow
Chris McDade will stay forever in my heart as one of the kindest and most caring people I’ve ever met and called a friend. For more than a decade, she and her husband Sandy served as my surrogate parents in the Pacific Northwest. Chris brought humor, empathy, and just enough parental concern to countless hours spent together - where often I was the only non-official family member at the table or in the room.
Losing Chris was so hard for her wondrous family, and for all of us whose lives were brightened and calmed by her inimitable presence.
I would be honored if you considered joining me in making a contribution in Chris’ honor as I head to Seattle next month to join Sandy and Megan and Emily and Andy and many more family and friends to honor Chris by walking in the Swedish SummeRun and Walk to benefit the Rivkin Center.
I am participating in the Swedish SummeRun & Walk this year. Proceeds from the run and walk will support the life-saving work of the Rivkin Center. The Rivkin Center is a Seattle-based non-profit that has become a principle catalyst for national and international research efforts aimed at finding solutions to ovarian cancer.
Rivkin Center Mission & Vision
To improve women's health by helping them prevent, detect early, and survive ovarian and breast cancer. We envision a world where women live longer and healthier lives because cancers are prevent, caught early, or cured.
Since its establishment in 1996, the Rivkin Center has awarded over $11 million in research grants to scientific investigators around the world, and also supports ovarian and breast cancer education and high-risk early detection screening.
Here are two ways that you can help us get one step closer to a cure for ovarian cancer:
1. Walk or run with me and give hope to those undergoing treatment and help inspire the community into action.
2. Help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation. Click on the "DONATE NOW" button to the right to show your support!
I'd be so grateful if you would join or sponsor me. Together, we can end ovarian cancer.
